Yup. That’s about all I’ve done so far this summer. Besides reading of course. And coming up every once in a while for air.
And every time I take one of these summer classes I go into it like...
And I come out of it like...
In all honesty, though, these accelerated classes never cease to amaze me, and I learn more about myself and my writing process as I go. For instance, I like a quiet space and I may or may not give you "the look" if you enter the room when I’m writing... or reading my own words to myself, out loud.
Yeah, you know the look. #sorrynotsorry
I also prefer to hand write my notes and ideas with pencil and paper and I kind of freak out when I have to use a pen because, well, I don’t like commitment.
And btw, I’m the person that keeps those little pencil cap eraser companies in business, just in case you were wondering.
I also write wayyy too many epiphanies down in my Notes app when I’m out and about, which sometimes get lost in my grocery list. So, there’s that.
When it comes to my draft, I keep a sort of list of important points that I want to bring up later at the bottom of my paper, but sometimes that can lead to my paper seeming longer than it actually it is. #notcool
This was a really creative idea to use memes to help tell us about your process. Not only does it fit perfectly with the theme of this class, but is also visually stimulating. I really enjoyed imagining "the look" you talked about in the middle of the post, and then seeing it visualized for me right after I imagined it. Thank you for giving me so many laughs with this post!
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh a lot--and not just the memes, but your very funny *writing*.
ReplyDeleteI also outline/draft/take notes in pencil. But ridiculously, I don't often erase beyond just a word or two. I cross out, so I might as well use a pen???
I have never related to a post or person more than this in my life. I always say every day I have to let my youngest free range and destroy my house so I can get work done. Literally when I was working on my major project over the weekend my fiancé got home and our daughter took all of the soup out of the cabinet and was playing with a huge tower of them on the floor. I told him not to mess with her as long as she’s distracted and safe, I don’t care what she does. “Coming up for air” is so funny too. With one kid having hospital visits and the other two dance recitals all last week, I thought I was going crazy! However, anything is possible with hard work, good for you! You should be proud.
ReplyDeleteI also have to hand write all of my notes if I don’t write them down, I won’t remember that. Even in classes where we just have a reading and we have quizzes on the reading I have to write down notes to remember the reading.
I've definitely heard from friends and family that I give a Look (a terrifying one) if I'm disturbed while I'm really busy. I'm largely unaware of doing it, but god help you if you "throw off my groove," haha! I also do the "frantically jotting down typo-ridden ideas in my notes app while I'm out" camp. It's a MESS in there.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I barely managed this class while just working and taking care of the house (and I'll be honest. the house care..... took a hit, lol), I literally could NOT do it while also trying to manage kids. You and Hannah have an incomprehensible power, haha!
